The Challenge
Several dozen small-scale breweries are located in the Randstad area and are brewing thousand litres of craft beer every week using tons of ingredients, mainly grains. The spent grains, a waste stream with currently low utilisation, are mainly taken by farmers from the area. There are already existing use cases implementing the principles of a blue economy by upcycling the spent grains, but these initiatives are usually limited to one exact venue or brewpub.
The solution
The solution to tackle the problem is the establishment of a network of co-creator partners - like brewpubs, bars, cafés, restaurants and bakeries - and supply them with up-cycled products created by Hops & Co. from the spent grains of the local breweries.
Mission
Accelerating the transition to an eco-conscious beer industry in the Netherlands by upcycling brewing by-products and advocating for sustainable practices
