As urban populations continue to swell, and the competition for limited housing intensifies, a significant portion of city dwellers are left facing financial strain, uncertainty, and limited options. We at AIR are trying to solve the problem of the limited relevance and impact of robotics in various aspects of people's lives. Despite advancements in technology, robotics may still face challenges in being widely accepted and utilized in everyday scenarios. These challenges could include limitations in functionality, accessibility, ease of use, or perception barriers.

People with physical disabilities encounter numerous problems every single day. One of the biggest obstacles that many might encounter are related to writing or typing. Say you need to type out a * to show that you are doing a multiplication, but you are unable to use both arms to press the shift and 8 key. This situation can turn out to be quite tricky, especially when you are trying to make a test or do some otherwise simple tasks. We initially found that the grades in school for some children with physical disabilities were taking big hits due to their inability to efficiently work with their computers. And this is where our story starts, with a teenage girl called Emily. She is a bright girl with cerebral palsy, but she just couldn't translate her intelligence to good grades due to her condition.

Emito started as a project at HAN University and the Dutch police to ease parking pressure at police stations. But deeper analysis revealed a bigger issue: employee commuting habits. This led to Emito evolving into a mobility app, backed by the university and police interest, transitioning from project to start-up. The challenge lies in employee commuting habits, impacting environmental sustainability and compliance with regulations like WPM (Werkgebonden personenmobiliteit) and CSRD (Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive). Many companies lack clear strategies for WPM kilometre registration and struggle with regulatory compliance. Additionally, there's a need to make sustainable commuting more appealing and accessible. Emito addresses these challenges by promoting sustainable commuting and aiding regulatory compliance.
