FEMALE FUTURE
Our focus lies in addressing the challenge of designing public spaces o elements that are not only safe and inclusive but also enhance equality, particularly regarding the safety of women at the urban planning level. We aim to minimize the risk of criminal activity and unwanted behavior while fostering a sense of security and equality for all. This encompasses the design of parks, squares, and other public spaces to facilitate social interaction and surveillance, thus reducing instances of crime and undesirable behavior.
BlindSpark
BlindSpark emerges as a response to prevalent issues in the university relationship (friendship and dating) scene, where superficial judgments based on physical appearance often overshadow deeper emotional and intellectual connections. This focus on looks contributes to social isolation among students, who may struggle to find meaningful relationships in environments that prioritize shallow criteria for compatibility. Furthermore, the digital age paradox exacerbates feelings of disconnection, despite the widespread use of technology to facilitate interactions. By addressing these concerns, BlindSpark aims to shift the dynamics of dating towards more substantive and fulfilling engagements.

EndPlastic
Estimates suggest we generate around 400 million tonnes of plastic waste annually. Here's the breakdown of what happens to this plastic waste: Recycled: Only a small percentage, around 9% , gets recycled. Not recycled: The vast majority, roughly 91%, is not recycled. This is the plastic that ends up in landfills or the environment. While all non-recycled plastic contributes to the problem, not all plastics are created equal. The problematic category is plastic that is difficult to recycle and not biodegradable. Unfortunately, there isn't a definitive statistic on exactly how much falls into this category. However, we can look at some contributing factors: Single-use plastics: Half of all plastic produced is for single-use items. These are often made from lower quality plastics that are not economical to recycle. Short lifespan plastics: Nearly two-thirds of plastic waste comes from plastics designed to last less than five years. These plastics are less likely to be captured in recycling systems. If you're concerned about plastic pollution, reducing your use of single-use plastics and choosing products with biodegradable or recyclable packaging whenever possible are positive steps.
Hops & Co.
Several dozen small-scale breweries are located in the Randstad area and are brewing thousand litres of craft beer every week using tons of ingredients, mainly grains. The spent grains, a waste stream with currently low utilisation, are mainly taken by farmers from the area. There are already existing use cases implementing the principles of a blue economy by upcycling the spent grains, but these initiatives are usually limited to one exact venue or brewpub.
Semi-Jobs
Germany's job market is currently struggling with a skilled worker shortage. Meanwhile, the shift to digital job placement sidelines many seniors, who struggle with new technology and prefer traditional methods. With pensions falling short, some seek additional income. Others desire more social interaction, looking for ways to connect and engage Yet, as officials look abroad for labour, they overlook untapped potential of seniors - a solution that could ease the worker shortage domestically without crossing borders. A service designed for seniors' unique needs and desires could bridge this gap, tapping into a valuable resource right at home.
