Comer Bonito. It is a platform designed for caregivers to harness the power of community to ensure healthy and sustainable meals for their children through fun and meaningful meal preparation experiences.
Food has increasingly become a commodity, often failing to fulfill its primary role: providing healthy nutrition, caring for ecosystems, and preserving cultural heritage and social cohesion. In the Netherlands today, over 2 million people eat dinner alone, obesity rates are rising, and 80% of supermarket food is ultra-processed (UFP). These UFPs are directly linked to non-communicable diseases, which over time contribute to chronic illness and premature death. Furthermore, the current food system is the leading driver of biodiversity loss and is responsible for 30% of anthropogenic greenhouse gas emissions. We urgently need to transform the way we eat and consume food, not only because it is our primary source of energy, but because it is deeply connected to our health, well-being, and planetary stability. Comer Bonito addresses this challenge by creating a community-driven platform where caregivers can find meal prep buddies supporting each other in making food a joyful, nourishing, and sustainable experience for their families. Comer Bonito targets companies that want to structurally promote health and well-being among employees. The platform offers a two-hour workshop during work hours, focused on food education and collaborative meal prepping for the week. This not only fosters healthier habits but also builds social connection and team spirit. Ingredients for the meal preps will be sourced from local cooperatives, bridging the gap between consumers and producers. This approach helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions, preserve biodiversity, and support local economies, aligning with broader sustainability goals.
